Each Sequencer has its own quirks and potential uses, but they all promise rewarding and surprising results for anyone who spends time exploring them.
Step Arp
Step Arp deals with one of the most popular uses for a sequencer, to create arpeggios. Compared to Ableton's native Arpeggiator, StepArp's sequence can be controlled and altered step-by-step, defining six different values including velocity, note length, chance and transposition. It's the sequencer to use when writing melodic parts, with more than enough controls to tweak for variations while recording or during a performance.
SQ Sequencer
SQ Sequencer takes its inspiration from classic hardware sequencers, providing up to 16 steps to control a range of parameters. Crucially, each parameter lane can cycle through its own step length and playback direction, which allows for more detailed control over the way your pattern evolves. The Condition feature can determine precise rules for when a step will or won't trigger a MIDI value.
