In his fourth collaboration with Spitfire Audio, legendary Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer presents the Ultimate Piano Library. A favorite of Hans himself, this beautiful piano, full of life, depth and character, is the in-house grand piano of AIR Studios' Lyndhurst Concert Hall, one of the finest scoring stages in the world. Carefully recorded by Hans' renowned engineers and the award-winning Spitfire team, the library embodies what Hans calls a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to create a world-class piano writing tool for discerning composers around the world. WORLD CLASS CONCERTS Hans Zimmer Piano uses the combined signals of 60 microphones placed in and around the piano and concert hall, fed into Prism AD converters via a Neve 88R workstation via a unique Air "Montserrat" preamplifier. The piano is a world-class extended grand piano, which requires both virtuosity and performance to play, resulting in several days of recording, including a large number of rounds and dynamic layers, from surging power to deathly silent tones, creating the most tender moments. It also has the widest range of techniques - from staccato and long notes to detailed studies of the piano's softest layers - and a large collection of effects, from zither-like finger picking to gentle timpani string strikes, to bring you more inspiration. The Spitfire team spent nearly 12 months processing each sample, with regular reviews by Hans and his team. To ensure that the full range of sounds was captured, the Spitfire team recorded more days at Lyndhurst Hall, and then cut and polished each sample again. Expert technicians then worked side-by-side with respected pianists to further refine the final version of the piano, testing it on several different controllers (including Hans' preferred Deopfer LMK4+) to produce the most responsive, authentic, and inspiring instrument possible. |
