Blakus Cello
Cello is one of our favorite instruments in the orchestra. It has an unbelievably wide emotional range, from sinister and biting to sweet and lyrical. When we embarked on making the Blakus Cello (a collaboration with Blake Robinson, Australian composer/cellist extraordinaire) we created a massive set of samples: expressive sustains, visceral harsh attacks, pizzicatos, tremolos… along with a carefully prepared model for sul ponticello and con sordino with scripted legato. This cello will add an expressive edge to your music, and hopefully, add a bit of joy to your music-making life!
True Legato Samples
We recorded transitions two-and from each note for three Legato styles. When you play connected lines, you hear real transition performances – without crossfading into sustain samples.
Dynamics Morphing
Seamlessly morph between real dynamic layers. All samples are phase-locked so they can blend in-and-out of each other without problematic crossfade issues.
Physically Modeled Vibrato
Vibrato scripting is modeled off real vibrato source-recordings, allowing independent control over vibrato intensity and speed – displayed across an X/Y grid.
Adaptive Legato
All Intimate Strings instruments wield our innovative Adaptive Legato feature, which adjusts legato transition speed in response to your performance, offering performative action that had never been achievable before.
Adaptive Shorts
Perform longer or shorter Staccato notes in realtime based on key velocity or MIDI control. This works extremely well for creating Spiccato, tackling agile passages, or for playing longer accented notes.
Ensemble Mode
Create your own virtual string section via the Ensemble builder. Stack up to 8 players, change their seating position, and tweak other humanization parameters such as intonation and timing for realistic (and fun) effects.
Improved Efficiency
Enjoy the benefits of some crucial updates to our script and programming. You’ll notice improvements focusing on RAM efficiency and MIDI CC handling.
Looped Sustains
