The 8Dio SQS (Studio Quartet Series) Solo Bass marks a new leap in sampling for us. We recorded one of the greatest solo bassists alive today. A principal bassist of the BBC and other orchestras. Ultra Deep-Sampled with 88 articulations ranging from true polyphonic legato to a wealth of short-note options, dozens of velocity-based arcs, twelve different Ostinatos, and performance-based articulations.

The Studio Solo Bass marks countless hours of critical recording and capturing of essential musical performances, which through proprietary post-production have been carefully curated and crafted into a fully playable solo instrument. Featuring only the best in musicianship, the Solo Bass has all the intricacy and passion you would expect, capable of dynamic and moving performances, through to authentically virtuosic playing. Recorded in a controlled studio environment at Scotland's Premiere Recording Studio – Gorbals Sound, the Bass was captured in incredible detail and without compromise utilizing two dual-microphone techniques. This combined method allows you to freely blend between a direct signal and a more spacious and ambient position, enabling you to control the positioning and distance of the Bass accurately.

A stand out feature of The Studio Quartet Series is its extensive collection of articulations. The Deep Solo Bass covers eighty-eight independently captured, multi-dynamic, and authentically sounding articulations, giving you access to all the tools you need to create a composition that is capable of going beyond realism.

Organized into six separate categories, each of the included sound-sets offers a range of features and playing styles all easily accessible from the in-built browser system. Choose from a variety of tempo-synchronized Measured sequences, a never before captured collection of extensive Short note articulations, or choose from dozens of flowing Dynamic Bowings, each offering different bow positionings, intensities, bow lengths, and repetitions. All available through our advanced user-interface, allowing you to load or unload the articulations you need for your current project. The Solo Bass features five individually recorded Legato articulations enabling you to play in a variety of styles, speeds, and with and without a mute in place (a.ka Con Sordino.) The naturally captured playing styles include a Slurred (Fingered) Legato, a Detaché (Bow Change) Legato, A Portamento Legato, A Slurred Con Sordino Legato, and a Run Based Legato for more nimble passages. Each of the main performance based Legatos also features original and musical coloration and dynamic changes, ensuring the pure and lifelike nature of the live performance can be accurately preserved.
